We cause ourselves a lot of stress by not staying in the present moment. Our thoughts are almost always about the past or the future – none of which we can do anything about in the present.
Rehashing the past can bring up feelings of frustration, sadness and guilt. Playing out things that haven’t happened yet can bring up feelings of fear, anxiety and worry. And all this is in our heads.
Try your best to deal with things and then let them go. Don’t continue to deal with them while you’re driving or brushing your teeth or walking into your house.
Learning how to meditate is a great way to learn how to stay in the present moment. We can’t do it all the time, but the more we practice, the more peaceful we become.
